My wife and I opened the bookstore on Juneteenth, 2015. It has been a long and arduous journey. But, our dual mission, to make sure that ALL children can see themselves in the literature that they read, as well as fighting racism by dispelling negative stereotypes and exposing children to cultures different then their own, was too important to ignore.
Now, 7 years later, it seems we need these tenants more than ever. As a devoted community member, we invite you to join us as we celebrate the victories of the past and reaffirm our commitment to work towards a more equitable future.
We are inviting the whole St. Louis Region to come out for a day full of fun and community bonding. There will be music, community info tables, a storyteller, pony rides, food & refreshments.PLUS: A special Juneteenth Presentation by "Remember The 400"
