Description

Limited Seating Available Hi, I'm Ray Rico and I am the founder and publisher of Focus LGBTQ+ Magazine, one of the region’s queer-owned and operated media companies. I’m also the principal and CEO of Ray Rico Freelance, a local multi-cultural marketing agency. And I’ve been a huge advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in Memphis for nearly three decades. Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of a project of Mosh, Museum of Science and History, I’m hosting one-of-a-kind interviews with some of Memphis’ most intriguing people from the LGBTQ+ community. Join me as we listen to the stories and reflect on the life and times of pioneers who helped fight for LGBTQ+ rights here in Memphis. The people you will meet in these interviews are trailblazers, movers and shakers, who have all worked in different ways to make our community a better place and to push for greater visibility and representation for LGBTQ+ people of Memphis. I hope my conversations with historians, storytellers, survivors, advocates and entertainers will help us all to better understand the history of the LGBTQ+ community that makes Memphis Proud. Memphis Proud: The Resilience of a Southern LGBTQ+ Community is made possible by the support of our presenting sponsors FedEx and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Additional sponsors include Archer Malmo’s LGBTQIA+ERG, Focus Magazine, International Paper, Nike, Raymond James, and Sowell Realtors.
