MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association (NJNEOA) recognized the Morris County Prosecutor's Special Enforcement Unit / Narcotics Task Force at their annual conference last week.
Detective Supervisor Jimmy Atoche has been named the Northern New Jersey Narcotic Officer of the Year for 2022. Detective Supervisor Atoche has been an important member of the MCPO Narcotics Task Force, resulting in numerous arrests, seizures, and the dismantling of drug trafficking organizations, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.
The Morris County Narcotics Task Force was also recognized for their collaboration with the FBI's Newark Transnational Organized Crime Western Hemisphere Task Force, which resulted in significant drug seizures and the disruption of national and international drug trafficking.
"I am impressed with all of the NJNEOA award recipients and the significant drug enforcement work being conducted throughout the state. It was great to see members of the MCPO and our Narcotics Task Force be recognized by their peers," Chief of Detectives Christoph Kimker said.
The task force, in collaboration with the Hanover Township Police Department, was recognized for an investigation that resulted in six arrests and the seizure of more than 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said.
"The men and women of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office and the task force officers assigned to the Morris County Narcotics Task Force deservedly received this recognition for their cooperative efforts and significant results. Without our partnerships amongst law enforcement agencies and Task Force Officers supplied by municipal agencies, our Narcotics Task Force would not have the success it does," Carroll said.
