The Scherzers have offered to pay the adoption fees for all dogs weighing more than 30 pounds who are adopted from St. Hubert's between now and Sunday. The shelter is currently full, with over 40 dogs waiting for homes, and the Scherzers want to encourage adoptions, according to Diane Ashton, director of communications. One Madison Resident Wins College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship A high school student from Madison has earned the prestigious college-sponsored merit scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Competition for 2022, the organization announced. George H. Dailey won the National Merit Boston University Scholarship. Dailey plans to study biomedical engineering next fall. According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, Dailey was among more than 2,600 winners of National Merit Scholarships funded by American colleges and universities. Members Of Madison Police To Participate In Special Olympics Run Madison Borough will assist in carrying the "Flame of Hope." On Friday morning, Special Olympics athletes and members of the public will join Madison police officers in carrying the torch as part of the law enforcement torch run. The Torch Run is divided into 26 segments throughout New Jersey, but the Madison leg will pick up the torch around 11 a.m. at the American Legion on Ridgedale Avenue and travel 2.1 miles to Hartley Dodge.
