Chatham Gun Violence Rally Remembers Victims, Calls For Change Following a recent increase in mass shootings across the country, residents from all over Morris County gathered at 17 Firehouse Plaza in Chatham to raise awareness about gun violence in the aftermath of recent tragedies. Local community members, politicians, activists and survivor speakers wore orange shirts to honor the lives lost to gun violence and to rally for an end to gun violence. UPDATE: Crash With Injuries On NJ-24 Near Chatham At 8:05 a.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on NJ 24 westbound near milepost 60 in Chatham Borough. A BMW sedan and a Mercedes SUV were traveling westbound on NJ 24 when the Mercedes rear-ended the BMW near milepost 60. The BMW driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, NJSP Trooper Brandi Slota told Patch. Fishawack Festival Returns To Chatham For 51st Year The annual Fishawack Festival returns to downtown Chatham on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Footraces, live entertainment, an outdoor pub, a kids' fun zone, a food and dining pavilion and artisan craft vendors are among the activities planned by The Chatham Borough Community Services Department and the MyChathamNJ Advisory Committee. Park Upgrades Throughout Chatham Township Now Complete Two Chatham Township parks now have easier access to parking and restrooms. Under Resolution 2022-125, the Chatham Township Committee authorized the purchase of automated doors for the restrooms at both Shunpike and Nash Field. Every resident now has timed access to the existing restrooms, thanks to automated controls. This upgrade ensures that the restrooms are secure when the parks close for the evening, officials said. No Surprises In Chatham Borough, Township Primary Elections The polls are closed and the unofficial votes 2022 Primary Election results for both the Chatham Township Committee and the Chatham Borough Council are tallied, according to unofficial results from the Morris County Clerk's Office. There are two seats available on the Borough Council and Township Committee. That means the municipal primaries in both towns were uncontested. Chatham To Hold A Virtual Talk, Answer Questions On Solar Panels The sun is shining, and there is plenty of free energy to go around. The Environmental Commissions of 12 neighboring towns, including Chatham are hosting a free virtual talk with Frank Curran of Green House Solar to help residents take advantage of summer's abundant solar power. The presentation "Is Solar Right For Your Home?" will take place on June 21st, at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Chatham Fire Department Dedicates Equipment To Township Residents Members of the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, joined by Rev. Msgr. James Mahoney, blessed and dedicated three pieces of life-saving equipment during a ceremony last week. The department, which was founded in 1925, is entirely made up of volunteer members, including 25 active firefighters, junior firefighters and associate members who provide services on a daily basis.
