BEL AIR, MD — A Bel Air police officer who helped a local group sell more than 1,000 Christmas trees was recently honored at Town Hall. Each June, the Bel Air Lions Club presents its Heart of a Lion award to a person who "embodies the attributes of a lion and that certainly is Rich Krause," Bel Air Lions Club President Sandy Guzewich said. Described as a "volunteer extraordinaire," Senior Officer First Class Richard Krause has helped the Lions annually with the delivery of Christmas trees for its Christmas tree sale, according to Guzewich. "He certainly does serve this community not only as a wonderful police officer and school resource officer but also as a volunteer," she said. "This man moves over 1,000 trees off those trucks with the help of his Explorers as well as the Bel Air High School students," Guzewich said, speaking at the June 6 Bel Air Town Hall meeting. Elizabeth Janney/Patch. Krause called on his son and daughter as well as the Bel Air Police Explorers to stand up at the Town Hall meeting. For the last 12 years, Krause said he has been working in the community, with the Explorers and helping with events to raise funds for community organizations. "That's the best part about my job," Krause said. "It's great."
