Here are the top stories in New Orleans today: In a press conference this week about the upcoming special session, Louisiana Governor John Edwards stated that he would not send the national guard to New Orleans in response to the high levels of violence and crime the city has experiencing. The national guard is experiencing a labor shortage as well and Edwards doesn't feel sending in troops would be helpful. (FOX 8 Local First) A shooting in Mandeville left two victims, one dead and one wounded on Sunday night. Officers responded to a call of gunfire on Dupre Street around 9:30 and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. The first victim died at the scene and the other is sill recovering in the hospital, according to reports. (NOLA.com) Occasional Wife Store has announced that it will be holding an estate sale of possessions of the New Orleans icon, Chris Owens, who passed in April. The ent takes place June 17 and 18. The public and fans can come and view or purchase items from her estate.
