Press release from the Fresno Unified School District: June 9, 2022 What: Information about free summer meals When: Monday, June 14, 2022 1-1:30 p.m. Where: Fresno Unified Education Center – Board Room on Second Floor, 2309 Tulare St. (93721) Fresno Unified and the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission (EOC) will provide free meals across the city during the summer, helping children maintain good nutrition even while school is out. Fresno Unified's free summer meals program begins on Tuesday, June 14, with grab and go meals available at 17 sites from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Meals will be available Monday through Friday through Aug. 12, except on July 4. Meals are available for children ages 1-18. (See list of 17 sites below.) Fresno Unified will also offer in-person lunch at summer school sites. EOC will offer free summer meals at 32 sites in Fresno and neighboring communities. List of EOC sites. Speakers will include Superintendent Bob Nelson, members of the Fresno Unified Board of Education, Amanda Harvey, Director of Fresno Unified's Nutrition Services and Jon Escobar, EOC's Director of Food Services. "We are happy to once again offer free summer meals to students, both using a grab and go process and in-person meal service at our summer school sites. Even though school is not in session, we want to provide access to healthy meals for our students," said Superintendent Bob Nelson. List of Fresno Unified grab and go meal distribution sites: Served in-person breakfast and lunch: The district will also serve breakfast and lunch in person to all enrolled summer school students on campus. In addition, children from the community ages 1-18 can eat lunch at summer school sites 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In-person lunch is available at Bullard, Edison, Fresno, Hoover, McLane, Roosevelt and Sunnyside high schools and the following schools: List of Summer School Elementary and Middle School Sites School Meals App: An app and interactive website are available for parents and guardians to easily view information on school menus for breakfast and lunch each day. The app features an image and description of food items, as well as nutrition and allergen information. The app allows for student and parent feedback on menu items. The innovative and interactive web site and mobile app makes school menus more convenient and informative than ever before. The app can be accessed by searching for "School Menus by Nutrislice" on Google Play or the App Store or visit fresnounified.nutrislice.com.
