POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for the general maintenance and repair of all aspects of the building and grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain buildings and premises, including general cleaning, garbage removal, floors and carpets, seasonal or other periodic specific cleaning to include snow/ice removal. Work with the Facilities Manager to provide for additional assistance as necessary for large projects.
• Set up for various functions of the congregation as needed, including regularly scheduled events, special events and meetings, dinners, etc. Ensure take down of same events is complete. Ensure that kitchen cleaning is completed by the group in charge of the function.
• Ensure that the furnace and heating system, elevators and any other mechanical equipment are in good functioning order and repair.
• Responsible for good working condition and repair of church property as needed. Make minor repairs, updates and conduct preventative maintenance of property.
• Ensure that parking, sidewalks and outside steps are ready in a usable condition during times the church is scheduled in use by groups or worship service.
• Prepare building and premises for services and groups as needed.
• Oversee the availability of the church building, unlocking the doors as needed, security/locking as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Good interpersonal skills necessary to work with other staff and members of the congregation.
Ability to clean and perform general upkeep.
Ability to make minor mechanical and carpentry repairs.
Ability to work independently, knowledgeably, accurately and decisively.
Ability to read and follow directions.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to climb ladders
HOURS: approximately 30 hours/week. Must have flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED desired
Maintenance and cleaning experience.
