The added protection for the Justices stems from illegal protests and threats against their lives right now, -Under 18 U.S.C. 1507, it is a federal crime to protest near a residence occupied by a judge or jury with the intent to influence their decisions in pending cases, and this case remains pending. - in front of their homes was passed by the Senate unanimously weeks ago. Pelsoi famous for saying (You have to pass it before you know what's in it) has let it sit on her desk since then. But she was offered 4 days before the Jan 6th protest 20,000 National Guard troops by President Trump to guard the Capitol and turned him down so I guess not protecting the Capitol Building in her mind is the same not protecting Supreme Court Justices. So what discussion is needed? Is it too hard for even someone like you to know illegal protestors one of which came to kill Kavanaugh, his wife and children has made it necessary for more protection? In a side note AG Garland has failed to arrest a single illegal protestor in front of the Justices homes which is by statute his sworn obligation, - another impeachable offense for the new Congress after the November elections. Gun legislation is an entirely different issue because it involves the 2nd Amendment and the Senate is about to vote to make changes, once they do will Pelosi let that legislation sit on her desk for who knows how long? The NRA's mission is the safe & legal use of firearms and protecting everyone's 2nd Amendment rights not the abuse of firearms by lunatics. The NRA spend less than $5 million a year to that end, Amazon alone spends $11.4 million per year lobbying Congress, Big Pharma over $20 million per year. The NRA are pikers in spending compared to all the rest. Your point is actually not a point at all its pure Bulletin. Do you think Nancy just signs stuff and it becomes law? Yea the fact that this "legislation" is on her desk means nothing. It is presented for discussion and a vote. Actually why don't you ask the 50 senators who've been sitting on gun legislation for 2 years the same question? Why is it a problem to require background checks? Or mental health checks?
