Each year our section showcases the outstanding work of its members through the annual Project-of-the-Year Award competition. As we gather to reflect on another year of outstanding work from our members and colleagues, we listen to presentations describing each project, vote for the Peers’ Choice award, and announce and recognize the winners with a presentation of trophies. Advertisement for this year’s competition and submission of entries occurred this spring. The submitted projects will be divided into two competition categories:
• Less than or equal to $5 million in construction cost
• and Greater than $5 million in construction cost
This year, four project entries were received.
Judges with no affiliation to the projects and with varying representation within the transportation industry were selected to evaluate the projects. Each judge evaluated the projects and emailed (to an independent score collector) scores between 0 and 25 for each of the following four categories:
• Benefits to the Public
• Complexity
• Innovation and Unique Features
• and Aesthetics and Sustainability Features
This year, we will honor all the projects entered and reveal our winners at an in-person event on Tuesday, June 28th. During this event, lunch will be provided as we hear presentations describing each project, vote for the Peers’ Choice award, and announce and recognize the competition winners.
