Job: A Family in upstate NY requires a governess for their elementary aged child. Location: The family is based in upstate NY, with multiple properties throughout the US. So it is important that the governess is flexible to travel wherever the family requires. *The family is open to relocating the right candidate to base in NY Duties: -Prepare daily lessons and coursework, keeping in step with NY curriculum timing. Special focus on the child’s reading & geography development -Organize educational outings for the child, to ensure focus on whole child education -Work closely with the parents to ensure the family’s goals are being accomplished -Work in tandem with the family's nanny, other tutors & extracurricular instructors as needed -Develop a close and trusted relationship with the child -Provide structure & healthy boundaries for this spirited and gifted child -Work as part of a team with other family members and household staff -Other nanny duties to be discussed Education & Personal Preferences: -Degree in education, with a focus on the Montessori method. Bonus if familiar with the Waldorf Steiner method. -Calm & peaceful demeanor within the home is of utmost importance to this family -Holistic & spiritual approach to life, with a willingness to learn and implement the family’s standards around this view -Interest in personal assisting for the mother highly desired
