Event Information: Norwood Community Archives: The Norwood Community Archives is a grassroots effort led by the descendants of the US Colored Troops in the Southeast quadrant of Indianapolis. Beginning with the family archive of Ms Flinora Frazier, the Norwood Community Archives consists of the family collections dating from Emancipation to the contemporary moment, with a bulk of the items dating from 1867-1925, documenting the community’s life as a Freetown and its annexation into the city of Indianapolis. Objects in this collection include abundant photographs, family bibles and diaries, lot sales papers, legal documents, among many other things. In addition to these family archives, the Norwood Community Archive documents over five USCT-founded churches in the area.
