Press release from the Village of Pelham:
June 11, 2022
Dear neighbors, I am thrilled to announce the installation of Pelham's first public electric vehicle (EV) charging station. The Level 2 station is just a short walk to Village shops and restaurants, located in Parking Lot 7 behind Rockwells.
Over the coming months, we'll be installing four additional EV charging stations throughout our downtown. If you'd like to use one, you'll need to create a ChargePoint account, but we're temporarily offering this service at no cost. These charging stations are funded through a $212,605 grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Con Edison Power Ready Program, secured with the help of Ron Kamen from EarthKind Energy Consulting.
I am incredibly proud that our Village is taking this important step toward a cleaner, more renewable future. The effects of climate change will only get worse over time, and if we want to protect the planet our children will inherit, we must invest in the infrastructure needed to transition our society to cleaner energy technology. New York State is aiming to build capacity for 1 million plug-in electric vehicles by 2025. The Village of Pelham will be a partner in that effort. Please join me in thanking the volunteer members of our Sustainability Advisory Board, our Climate Smart Communities Task Force, and Village Trustee Hanan Kamal Eldahry who championed this initiative every step of the way.
Best,Chance
