Description

Korean Independence Day is celebrated annually on August 15, when the United States and the Allies liberated Korea from 36 years of Japanese colonial rule. Every year, Koreans gather to celebrate this momentous day, much like Americans celebrating their Independence Day on July 4. It's a time to show off national identity and pride. This year, the Korean American Association of Rhode Island (KAARI) will celebrate this day as "Korea Day Celebration" on Sunday, August 14. Musicians and dancers come from New York and South Korea to perform at Bishop McVinney Auditorium here in Providence, Rhode Island. Admission and food are free thanks to generous grants from the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts, Expansion Arts Program, Overseas Koreans Foundation, and Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Boston. We look forward to seeing you there!
