Press release from the Colorado Springs Police Department: June 10, 2022 Update On May 31, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner's Office completed the autopsy of the deceased male and identified him as 19-year-old Montaries Jennings of Colorado Springs. While the Coroner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death, this incident is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are actively working to develop information about the incident and identify those involved. No arrests have been made and additional information will be released as appropriate. At the time of the incident, Mr. Jennings' death was the 22nd homicide investigation in the City of Colorado Springs in 2022. The CSPD investigated 18 homicides this time last year. Original Blotter Entry On May 28, 2022, at approximately 1:15 am, Officers of the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 3800 block of E. Pikes Pike Ave for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on the scene and located an adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for further medical care, but he succumbed to his injuries. Three additional adult female victims were located and were suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. They were also transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. Detectives from the Homicide/Assault Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. No arrests have been made and additional information will be released as appropriate.
