Dog Sighting pit / mix with collar and broken leash

Description

Spotted a pit bull, might be a mix, with a collar and broken black leash. We were driving south on the freeway and then exited the 22nd off ramp. Inbetween the freeway and off ramp there is gravel landscaping and some trees. Dog was under one of the trees that hung low giving it some protection. Tried to approach but the dog started to leave. We left water. It was hard to see the color but it may have been a reddish brown or dark brindle color.
