PANORAMA CITY, CA — The driver of a stolen ambulance led police on a wild chase that ended with a series of crashes, injuring four women in Panorama City Sunday morning, according to Los Angeles police.
The Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance had been reported stolen from Sherman Oaks Hospital at 14500 W. Chase St. at about 2 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division reported. Los Angeles police officers pursued the ambulance, and it crashed moments into the chase.
"LAFD Ambulance stolen minutes earlier from Sherman Oaks Hospital, was being pursued by LAPD when it collided with two civilian vehicles (Pickup Truck and SUV), causing non-life-threatening injury to a total of four female civilians, including the suspect," said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the crash scene at 2:07 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
Authorities did not release further information about the crash or the suspect.
