Summer Entertainment Kicks Off Sunday This weekend marks the start of the City's free summer entertainment at Staring Lake Amphitheatre, beginning with the Minnesota Festival of Jazz on the Prairie from noon to 7 p.m. The first installment of Kidstock is Tuesday, June 14 from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. and performances of the Eden Prairie Players summer musical — "Cinderella" — begin Friday, June 17. Community Drop-off Day Get rid of unwanted items you can't throw in the trash or recycling bin on Saturday, June 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hennepin Technical College, 13100 College View Drive. The event is free and open to Eden Prairie residents only with valid ID for proof of residency. Appliances and electronics are not accepted at this event; learn more at edenprairie.org/DropOffDay. Bike to Work Month Pledge to try biking to work in June, and you'll have a chance to win some cycling-related prizes from Commuter Services, an outreach program of the I-494 Corridor Commission. Just one ride to your worksite or even a combination of biking and transit will enter you into a drawing for an electric bike or $100 gift card to your favorite bike shop. Make your pledge today. Hennepin County Drop-off Facilities Hennepin County operates drop-off facilities in Bloomington and Brooklyn Park for hazardous waste and other items that can't be thrown in the trash. Eden Prairie Residents may also bring hazardous waste to the Environmental Center in Chaska. Public Meeting on Draft Transportation Improvement Program Sign up to talk with the Metropolitan Council's Transportation Advisory Board about transportation improvements in our region at an online public meeting from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 21. The four-year program includes bicycle, highway, pedestrian and transit projects proposed in the Minneapolis-St. Paul urbanized planning area including the seven-county metropolitan area.
