Description

Resources to Inspire Students and Educators (RISE) has once again been named one of the best small non-profits in the Washington, D.C., area by the Catalogue for Philanthropy. Come work for this award-winning organization! RISE needs dedicated mentors to work with low-income college bound students on most Thursdays during the summer, helping the students with their college selection and application process. You will have the option of continuing the mentoring into the fall. The mentoring program is part of RISE's College Prep Plus program, where students also receive training for the SAT or ACT and visit up to a dozen colleges out of town. Some of the colleges on RISE trips include: The University of Toledo, Morehouse/Spelman/Clark Atlanta, North Carolina A&T, Norfolk State, Claflin, and Temple University. RISE's College Prep Plus program graduates low-income students from college at a rate more than four times the national average for low-income students who enroll. Mentors are expected to meet with their students on these Thursdays: June 30 and August 4 all day (9-4), your choice of July 7 or August 11 all day (you would be off the other day), and half days July 14, 21, and 28. (1-4 on the 14th and 21st, 9-12 on the 28th). Training will be provided, and there will be support throughout the program. This is an opportunity to change a student's life as well as your own! Please send a brief cover letter and resume to Paul Penniman at . No phone calls, please. For more information about RISE, please visit risedc.org Thank you!
