Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville: The Douglasville Police Department invites the community to attend its next town hall this Friday, Jun. 17. This meeting's topic will be "Active Shooter and Law Enforcement Protocols for Douglas County," with information presented by the Douglasville Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, and the Douglas County School System Police Department. The town hall will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Douglasville Police Department Community Room. (Douglasville Police Department via Facebook)Author Theresa Carcioppolo of nonprofit Scaley Addictions is headed to Douglas County Public Library at 3:30 p.m. for a book reading. Carcioppolo will read her book "Can I Call 911 Now?" with a guest appearance from Turbo the Tortoise, who stars in the story. Anyone interested can purchase a book at the event, as well as get their copy "stamped" with Turbo's "autograph." All proceeds from the day will go toward the nonprofit.
