WHO ARE JAMES PAGANO & NICHOLAS GIANQUITTI? I am an investigative reporter currently living on the West Coast. I’ve been following the recent tragic shootings that are taking place in America. Several months ago, I received an email concerning a case that had taken place in Rhode Island back in May 2008. It centers around the shooting of James Pagano by Nicholas Gianquitti. James Pagano was an active Lieutenant in the Warwick Fire Department, while Nicholas Gianquitti served as a Providence Rhode Island police officer for approximately 6 months in the early 90’s, retiring due to a job-related injury. This case centers around a birthday party celebration that was taking place on Sunday, May 18, 2008, to celebrate the birthday of a 10-year-old family member. It was during this birthday celebration when a tennis ball that was being used by the children hit a vehicle that was owned by either Nicholas Gianquitti or his wife Jennifer Gianquitti. Now this is where this seemingly harmless pickup game of baseball turned tragic. Nicholas Gianquitti evidently heard the tennis ball strike either his or his wife’s car, and as numerous witnesses had testified at Gianquitti’s trial, ‘He was yelling profanities at the children who were playing baseball in the neighborhood. After being told by the children as well as several adults that Gianquitti was yelling profanities at the children, James Pagano and his father Anthony Pagano went to the Gianquitti house to address this issue. Pagano had knocked multiple times with no answer. It was overheard James Pagano saying, ‘It’s a good thing you didn’t answer the door Nic”. Pagano and his father then turned to walk away when Gianquitti opened the door. Again, based on eyewitness testimony; “Gianquitti started to use profanity towards James Pagano as well as his father”. James Pagano became furious, throwing a punch towards Gianquitti, landing a glancing blow to this right cheek. Now this is where the line becomes blurred. When Pagano went to punch Gianquitti, Pagano lost his balance and fell, landing on top of Gianquitti in the foyer area of the Gianquitti house. Again, based on eyewitness testimony from Gianquitti’s wife, Jennifer Gianquitti, “Pagano and her husband didn’t fall on the foyer area, Pagano, chased Gianquitti into their house, stumbling down a flight of stairs that lead to the downstairs area, with Pagano landing on top of her husband”. Pagano’s father Anthony, who, according to Jennifer Gianquitti, “Had followed his son into their house and was standing in the foyer area” James’s father Anthony/noticed that Gianquitti had a gun and was trying to remove it from its holster”. Gianquitti had been wearing a legally licensed firearm and was trying to free this weapon from its holster. Pagano’s father yelled out to his son saying, “Jimmy, he has a gun, ‘Gianquitti’ and was trying to free this weapon, so both Pagano and his son James turned to run out of the Gianquitti house. Gianquitti fired, striking James Pagano in the lower area of his back as Pagano was running away, with Gianquitti chasing after Pagano, firing a second shot that missed. Here are several questions that need answers: Why was Nicholas Gianquitti even wearing a gun while inside of his house? Why did it take several minutes to answer his door? Did he decide to put his gun on before answering the door? Was this self-defense? Or retaliation for being punched in the face? Was this a justifiable shooting? Or was it revengeful rage? I would like to hear from anyone who was attending that birthday party or who has information about that tragic day on Sunday, May 18, 2008, who may have information that would be helpful to my story, thank you. IT SEEMS THAT MY PRIOR POSTING STRUCK A NERVE BECAUSE IT WAS FLALLGED.
