Description
3RD Wednesday South Austin Strum Along, ALL skills; it’s super fun! (For those who know how to play ukulele. If you play guitar join us and borrow a ukulele, you will do fine.) We play along with popular music. Must *know how to strum and play* basic four chord songs and be ready to learn to play songs with more chords and interesting rhythms. NO BEGINNER CLASS in this meeting. We may practice chords and strumming patterns before a song as needed. We will try not to leave anyone behind, at least for the first hour. Towards the very end we usually play several challenging songs. This is a great way to add to your skills! Loaner ukes available. (Our other meeting on 1st Wednesdays is for folks who want to learn how to play.) Our Wednesday Strum Alongs are sponsored by the Austin Public Library Hampton Branch to whom we are most grateful, and listed in the Library website Events. Recommended ages: anyone who can play ukulele! Children under 12 must be accompanied by adult. WHEN: Third Wednesday of each month, 6 to 7:40 pm. (Jun 15, Jul 20, Aug 17, Sep 21, Oct 19, Nov 16, Dec 21) WHERE: HAMPTON Branch Library meeting room (Austin Public Library), 5125 Convict Hill Rd, 78749. AGENDA: 5:50 Doors open. Arrive early if you can to tune up and get settled, but it is ok to arrive late/ whenever you can or to leave early. Better late than never. 6:00 South Austin Strum Along, all skills. We play and sing along with recordings of easier popular four chord songs at first and progress to songs in different keys with more chords and rhythmic complexity. You will build skills from meeting to meeting, learning new chords and strumming patterns in a fun way that sneaks up on you.
