Description

This year, as we celebrate Juneteenth Boston for an entire weekend in June. Juneteenth is the occasion where former slaves in 1865 celebrated freedom and democracy. It is a holiday that is so central to African-American identity and is worthy of being celebrated by all. This is why Governor Charlie Baker made this holiday official in Massachusetts in 2020. We, across the Commonwealth, celebrate it on Sunday, June 19th. Join us at our event recognizing Juneteenth, kicking off Friday, June 17th and ending Sunday June 19th, 2022 at our Royalty Gala. On Friday, 3pm we will start with our Juneteenth Rally/March through Roxbury showcasing what Black brilliance and Black resilience looks like, Juneneteenth is a marker of that excellence. The March will begin at 120 MLK Blvd and end at the Blair Lot in Nubian Square, Roxbury MA. This March is 1.6 miles long and includes Black culture, heritage and brilliance. Juneteenth has become not only a time to commemorate Black liberation from the institution of slavery, but also a time to highlight the resilience, solidarity, and culture of the Black community. It is a time for Black Americans to reflect on their ancestral roots. And a time for ALL Americans to celebrate those freedoms. This Juneteenth March is part of a three-day series of events planned by Juneteenth Boston and The Nubian Square Foundation alongside 20 other partners who desire to memorialize Juneteenth in partnership with the state’s and Boston’s elected and appointed leadership. We still need your support!!!! We not only need partners, vendors and sponsors, but we are asking for community volunteers and organizers to come together to create a celebration like no other. Please contact us for more information: [email protected] WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL!!! Juneteenth Boston Committee
