Description

This guided tour will take you through the Sylvester Manor farm fields and pastures to see our expanding farm operations. Participants will learn about how we grow vegetables, produce compost, and raise livestock on pasture and in woodlands. You will also learn about the history of our 1810 Dominy Windmill, where it was built, how it came to Sylvester Manor and how we plan to turn it back into a working mill! The tour will lead you inside the windmill to view the gears, driveshaft and other internal mechanisms. The 45 minute tour will begin and end at the Farmstand. This tour will be on unpaved, dirt fields and inside the windmill which has steep and narrow stairs. Please wear appropriate footwear (closed toe). Insect and tick repellent is suggested. This tour is not ADA accessible or for anyone with mobility issues. Recommended for ages 10+.
