First Time Story Slam San Diego (Music Firsts)Open Mic Format - First Time Story CompetitionWhat is a First Time Story Slam?A First Time Story Slam is a storytelling competition where people have 5 minutes to share a first time story based on the theme provided. The theme for this event is Music Firsts. People are invited to share any music related true, personal, first time story such as going to your first concert, music festival, watching a musical or playing an instrument, writing a song, singing karaoke, etc. Share Your Music First StoryIt is an Open Mic format, the storytellers will be selected the night of the event so anyone can take to the stage and share a story. You will need to signup upon arrival and let us know the title/theme of your story so we can verify it fits the theme of the Slam. There will be a total of 10 storytellers and each will have five minutes to share their stories. Thre judges will evaluate the stories based on the story structure, openness and vulnerability, nonverbal communication, and entertainment value. You can learn more about the criteria in the How to Become a (First Time) Storyteller book. Prizes will be awarded to the top three storytellers. Why Attend?!?Members of the audience will be entertained and get to experience the power of personal storytelling while they get to know the storytellers who take to the stage! This is a very unique, fun, and exciting experience. We are on a mission to create the space, environment, and opportunities where people can embrace being open and vulnerable with each other to make heart-to-heart connections by sharing who they are through storytelling and learning about others. We want to awaken people to understand how much their experiences, lives, and who they are matter. We have so much more in common than what separates us. We all part of the human experience.
