What is encaustic wax and how is it used in art? Encaustic consists of natural beeswax and dammar resin (crystallized tree sap). Once heated to a melting point, it can be applied as a base, top-coat, adhesive, and/or mixed with pigments! This medium lends itself wonderfully to mixed media art, abstract paintings, and even portraiture! In this workshop we'll be covering the basics of collage-making with encaustic wax. What you'll leave with : • Introductory knowledge of the encaustic medium, its history, and its artistic applications. • No rush to finish same day! Take your work-in-progress home and continue building your skill with this alluring medium! *Small collage surfaces will be provided as part of your ticket cost.
