Description
Delphi (around 3 years old) is a beautiful Lynx Point Domestic Longhair who has had trouble adjusting to her new home with me. After 3 months, she still hisses at me and won’t let me touch her. She isn’t angry or aggressive (she has never attacked), but she is definitely scared and I haven’t seen much progress during our time together. Dephi was a stray cat that was rescued by her first family in San Jose. I adopted her when this family was moving away and couldn’t take her with. In her last household she had other cats to play with and more space, which I think Delphi needs to fully adjust to a new family. When I saw her with her first family, she was calm, played with other cats, and let me pet and brush her. Basics: - Spayed - Up to date shots - Clipped right ear, as she was previously a stray - Free - Pick-up only in Lower Haight, San Francisco Pros: - ALWAYS uses the litter box, she has never gone somewhere she isn’t supposed to - Has never scratched up furniture - Has never attacked or scratched me (but I do keep my distance when she hisses) - She’s absolutely beautiful with long fur and blue eyes - Soft gentle meows - Likes to explore house plants, but has never eaten them - She will play with me if I keep my distance - Keeps herself well-groomed (which is good as I can’t get close enough to brush her) - Curious and likes to explore when she feels safe Cons: - Has not let me touch her - Hisses regularly, even when I’m feeding her, emptying her litter box, and playing with her - She escaped my apartment early on and got quite far away - When she ran away, she got hit by a car and fractured her pelvis. She appears to have fully recovered after a couple months (as the vet said young cats typically do) but will need another check up - Sad lonely meows (a meow translation app says she’s calling out for her friends/family) - Does not respond to her name… so you can change it if you like My apartment is small and I work from home, so I cannot continue to house a cat that doesn’t want to interact with me… it’s not a good situation for either of us. I think if she is in a larger home with other cats, she would adjust better. If I can’t find a good home for her soon, I will need to surrender her to a shelter.
