Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Collision With Car: Stamford PD

STAMFORD, CT — A 21-year-old Stamford man was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a collision between a motorcycle and a car, according to police. At approximately 2:42 p.m., police said a 2010 Yamaha R6 motorcycle driven by the 21-year-old was traveling eastbound on Broad Street, while a 2013 Chrysler 200, driven by a 27-year-old Norwalk resident, was heading westbound on Broad Street. At an intersection, police said the Chrysler attempted a left turn onto Greyrock Place when it struck the motorcyclist who was intending on continuing straight on Broad Street. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, "suffered serious, possibly life-threatening injuries," police said. He was taken to Stamford Hospital by Stamford EMS, where he is currently in critical condition. The driver of the Chrysler was also taken to Stamford Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and was treated and released. Police issued an infraction ticket and charged the diver of the Chrysler with making an improper turn and operating a motor vehicle without a license. "As of this time no further charges are pending," police said, "but the investigation is still ongoing."
