Press release from Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce: June 7, 2022 Make plans to celebrate Juneteenth in Myrtle Beach. The federal holiday marked annually on June 19 commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. Here are events happening across the Grand Strand. June 12, 5:00 p.m. Beachside Chats Charlie's Place 1420 Carver St. Hosted by the City of Myrtle Beach Neighborhood Services Department, Beachside Chats are monthly gatherings. This June, conversations will center on race, healing and Junteenth. June 18, 9-10 a.m. 2022 Myrtle Beach Juneteenth Parade Marchers will walk together from the Myrtle Beach Train Depot to the Charlie's Place where celebrations for Juneteenth will be held. June 18, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. 2022 Myrtle Beach Juneteenth Celebration Charlie's Place 1420 Carver St. Join the City of Myrtle Beach for a Juneteenth Homecoming Celebration. The theme this year is "Education is Freedom, Knowledge is Power." Attendees are asked to dress in college, high school, fraternity or sorority apparel. There will be live music by Level 10 Band and Painted Man. Learn more. June 18, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Juneteenth Freedom Day at Brookgreen Gardens Ron Daise, vice president for creative education at Brookgreen Gardens, will engage attendees in discussing the significance of this national holiday and its contemporary ramifications and ways the celebration continues. Daise's presentation will begin at 11 a.m. Brookgreen Gardens will award nine community members for its inaugural Huntington Exemplary Service Award at noon on June 18. The award recogizes people who have worked to improve race relations in Horry and Georgetown counties. Recipients are Rev. Cheryl Moore Adamson, Tracy Bailey, Issac Bailey, Veronica Gerald Floyd, Zenobia Harper, Marilyn Hemingway, Kelvin Waites, Steve Williams and The World Community Magazine. The event is free with garden admission. Learn more. June 18, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Second Annual Juneteenth Festival Laurel Street, Conway Celebrate Juneteenth in Conway.
