Description

Mutual Morris, a mutual aid group started in February of 2020 to build networks of direct community aid across Morris County through the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond, is seeking not just to provide emergency relief but to study, share, and understand the systemic root causes of our poverty, isolation, and vulnerabilities so that we can all come together to solve these problems from the ground up. We proudly announce the formation of these two new groups that are welcoming new members: Council of the Working Class and Housing Council. The Council of the Working Class invites workers and unemployed people to share our stories of low wages, abusive bosses, meaningless jobs, high cost of living, etc., and to plan our own alternatives such as deeper mutual aid, worker-owned cooperatives, bartering, various kinds of collective care. The Housing Council invites tenants to share our stories of high rents, lack of proper maintenance, gentrification, abuse, evictions, difficulty finding affordable housing, etc., and to plan solutions including deeper mutual aid, rent strikes, co-housing options, and more kinds of collective care. Each group will meet alternating Thursday evenings in a different park each week so that you can come and share your challenges and learn about potential community-led solutions. See our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Mutua... for upcoming dates and locations. Or email us at [email protected] for more information.
