Here are the top three stories in Charleston today: The North Charleston Police Department arrested a man on Jun. 8 for attempting to rob a bank with a grenade. Sammie Greene, 60-years-old, robbed the bank with what appeared to be a grenade pin after being denied a withdrawal. He has been charged with entering a financial institution with the intent to steal and attempted armed robbery. (WCBD News 2)The new approval for North Charleston Police Department's 745 police cameras is met with a mixed public response. The cameras were approved by the city council in an effort to improve public safety. Opponents of the devices claim that surveillance technology supports discriminatory policing practices. Supporters of the devices argue that surveillance technology can assist the department in catching those responsible for community shootings. (Charleston Post Courier)The Charleston Animal Society has been given a $100,000 donation in honor of a Lowcountry man. The shelter honored 42-year-old Johnny Scott and his donation through a special ceremony on Wednesday. The donation will be used to support the man's dogs and additional animals at the shelter.
