ENGLEWOOD, NJ — Englewood police used a stun gun on a machete-wielding man who they said did not comply with officers' instructions to drop the weapon, and arrested him, the Englewood Police Department said in a news release Friday. No one was reported injured, police said. Carlos Sanchez-Rivera, 26, was charged with resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, police said. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail. Police saw Sanchez-Rivera holding a large machete in the parking lot of Vida Garden, a lounge on Armory Street, at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police said. Sanchez-Rivera was denied entry to the business earlier that night, and an argument ensued, police said. He then told staff he would be right back, police said. Sanchez-Rivera had been previously banned from the restaurant, police said. He also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, police added.
