Press release from the City of Shakopee: June 9, 2022 The Shakopee City Council met Tuesday, June 7. Among the meeting highlights: City Council approves establishment of ballot boards The City Council approved the City Clerk to establish ballot boards to for the responsibility of accepting or rejecting absentee voter ballots. The ballot board, which is required by Minnesota state statute, examines all returned envelopes to ensure that the envelope is complete, witnessed and accurate. Council approves final plat for Emblem Shakopee apartments The City Council approved a final plat for Emblem Shakopee, located north of 17th Avenue, east of Philipp Way, south of Tyrone Drive, and west of Canterbury Road. The apartment complex development will house 288 units and will primarily consist of one and two bedroom units, with some studio and three bedroom units. City Council OKs extended construction hours for utility extension project The City Council approved extended construction hours through October 2022 for the Maras Street, Hansen Avenue and 13th Avenue Utility Extension Project. The extended working hours will begin work at 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings. The impacts from the earlier generated noise is not anticipated to be a substantial nuisance in this area of the city for the prescribed times. City Council discusses billing error with city trash hauler Representatives from Dick's Sanitation Inc., the city's contracted trash hauler, were in attendance to discuss recent billing issues. Incorrect past due notices were recently sent to about 900 customers despite those accounts being current. DSI investigated and found an issue in its online billing data. The issue has since been corrected and individual notices sent to the customers affected.
