Here are the top three stories in Marietta today: The Cobb County election chief has been subpoenaed to testify before a special grand jury for her role in the 2020 presidential election. Janine Eveler will speak on Thursday to a panel investigating whether or not President Trump illegally tried to overturn Georgia election results. Cobb County was the focus of an audit in 2020 that investigated the absentee ballot system. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)Cobb County Superior Court Judge Mary Staley has sentenced Dijour Ross to 20 years in prison for his role in a 2019 carjacking and armed robbery. The incident occurred on Franklin Road in Marietta. Ross was declared indigent by the court and was later represented by attorney Frank Michael Starosto. (Cobb County Courier)The Cobb County Police Department is seeking approval to use facial recognition systems. The artificial intelligence systems used by hundreds of law enforcement agencies in the United States have been controversial. The department has been using the system through a free trial program but is now seeking a three-year contract to use the system for $18,000 per year.
