The conversation, focused on actionable steps to build racial equity and violence prevention, will also feature panelists Sarita Smith (Manager of Student Assignments at Evanston/Skokie School District 65) and Josefina Alvarez, PhD (Professor Emerita at Adler University), and will be moderated by Tiffany McDowell, PhD, Director of YWCA’s Equity Institute. In this time of recent hate crimes and extremist violence in this country, join us for this imperative conversation centered around addressing how we work for equity and justice in our own communities, and identifying immediate actions with the deepest impact to build safer, more equitable, anti-racist environments. This is a free, hybrid event where attendees can register to attend either in-person at the newly renovated YWCA campus (limited capacity with COVID-related safety measures in place) or virtually via a live Zoom broadcast. Coffee, refreshments, and a light breakfast will be served to in-person attendees. Registration is required along with proof of vaccination and masking policies in place for in-person attendees.
