The Sierra Madre Fire Department's S.M.A.R.T. Chipper & Green Waste Days are designed to give residents the opportunity to dispose of flammable vegetation free of charge.
On Saturday, June 25th, receive free curbside vegetation hauling and chipping services. All vegetation and green waste collected will be hauled to City Yards where it will be chipped and recycled by Athens Services for future mulch use and giveaways. Register by June 17th.
Please have all vegetation curbside and ready for pick-up by 9 a.m. on day of event. Pick-up times will vary depending on the number of participating residences. All hauling services are expected to be completed by 6 p.m.
Registration will close on Tuesday, May 17th. Must be a Sierra Madre resident to participate.
What CAN go in the chipper?
Tree limbs up to 8” in diameter and 6 ft. in length.
Shrubs, brush, limbs, woody bushes, broom, cypress, juniper, firewood, etc.
What will NOT be taken for the safety of our crews?
Trash, poison oak, blackberry brambles, construction materials, lumber, regular yard waste, leaves, lawn clippings, bamboo roots, roots with dirt, rocks, or gravel
Bagged or tied material of any kind
What WILL be taken but can't be put in the chipper?
Palm fronds, bamboo, pampas grass - place next to pile
