"My Juneteenth Journey: An Exploration of Springfield's Historic Freedom Story"

The day long event will begin at the Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Representative Hall on the 5th floor. The Maximum capacity for the event is 50 guests. This included children and adults.
Please join us for a day long exploration of the historic places in Springfield that were touchstones in the story of freedom. The day will include visits to historic sites and museums as well as conversations and activities related to the exploration of what Juneteenth looks like at local places and within ourselves. Places that will be visited include:
Old State Capitol State Historic Site
Oak Ridge Cemetery
Springfield and Central Illinois African American History Museum
Lincoln Colored Home
Firehouse Number 5
Taylor House/Ambidextor Institute
Lincoln Home National Historic Site
Bicentennial Plaza
Illinois State Museum
Lunch and snacks will be provided. Please register by Wednesday, June 15, 2022. Seating is limited.
