WALLINGFORD, CT — Police are investigating and offering a reward for information related to the recent vandalism of the Veteran's Memorial at Dutton Park. The Veteran's Memorial at Dutton Park on North Main Street has been vandalized on two separate occasions, according to Wallingford Police Chief John Ventura. "This memorial is to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis," Ventura wrote in a news release. "The deliberate and disgraceful attack on the memory of these heroes will not be tolerated nor will the hateful rhetoric that members of the Wallingford Community have been exposed to." Ventura said he is authorizing a $1,000 reward to "anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for these reprehensible acts. The investigation into these incidents has been turned over to the Wallingford Police Department Investigative Services Division." Anyone with information is asked to call 203-294-2845 or email [email protected].
