At is recent annual meeting, DanversCARES recognized Danvers High School and Holten-Richmond Middle School students for their efforts to get involved in their school community and encourage their peers to do the same. Honorees were: DHS Community Leader Award 2022Grant Burden, a junior at Danvers High School, was recognized with the 2022 DHS Community Leader Award for his contributions to the DanversCARES student organization and community events this year. Burden has helped build DanversCARES back after the hybrid remote learning portion of the pandemic. He spread the word about events, engaged positively with peers and adults in the community about DanversCARES, and went above and beyond to attend meetings and share some excellent ideas. "We know Grant will continue his advocacy work here at DHS next year and in the future in college. We look forward to seeing what he does next as a changemaker and strong community leader," said Whitney McNeilly, DanversCARES Program Coordinator, when presenting the award to Burden. Holten-Richmond Middle School Community Leader Awards 2022 Paige Sherman, a 6th grade student at Holten-Richmond Middle School, was recognized for her outstanding citizenship and consistent involvement in our DanversCARES group this year. "She naturally goes above and beyond to find ways to give back, support, and better our community, both in and outside of school," said Rebecca Wait, mathematics teacher and DanversCARES Youth Leadership Coordinator at Holten-Richmond Middle School, when presenting the award to Sherman. "We have been so fortunate to have her as a part of our organization as a sixth grader and know she will continue to make a difference throughout her career in Danvers. " Youthworks Certificate Certificates were awarded to Danvers High School students who participated in a unique internship program where they learned about careers they are interested in under the supervision of a professional in that field. "The feedback we received from the work sites has been excellent and we know these students made a positive impression," said Kaarin Robinson, DanversCARES Youth Leadership Coordinator and Internship Coordinator at Danvers High School when presenting the certificates. "Our hope is for each of you to move forward to colleges next year with this experience supporting you in your career aspirations." Students receiving certificates were: Justin Criscuolo, Lilly Criscuolo, Nick Goodwin, Rayyan Kahn, and Sean Ouellette.
