BEVERLY, MA — It was a long trip back to the North Shore for some counting on the commuter rail on Wednesday after what the MBTA described as a "low-speed upright derailment" near Beverly.
Buses were used up to North Beverly and Montserrat for train connection to Newburyport and Rockport for those on the affected train.
The 4:10 train from Newburyport and 4:40 train from Rockport were canceled. The MBTA then canceled the 5:07 p.m. train from Newburyport and the 5:37 p.m. Rockport train.
As of 6 p.m., inbound trains from Newburyport (6:57 p.m.) and Rockport (7:46 p.m.) were on as scheduled.
The MBTA reported no injuries in the derailment.
