DARIEN, CT — Two cars that were stolen from Darien last week were later recovered in Waterbury, and police said the thefts are related. According to police, on June 3 just after 6 a.m., officers responded to a home on Holly Lane on a report of a stolen vehicle. A resident told police his gray 2019 Jeep Cherokee was stolen overnight, and that the car was unlocked with the keys inside. On June 6, Waterbury police located the Jeep and the owner was contacted to retrieve it, police said. Then around 8 a.m. on June 3, officers met with another resident on nearby Middlesex Road who said his 2022 BMW 740 was stolen in the overnight hours. Police said the car was parked at the home at 9 p.m. the night before, and it was unlocked with the keys inside. Shortly after 12 p.m. that day, officers in Waterbury found the BMW and it was processed by Darien detectives. Police said an investigation into the thefts is ongoing.
