FARMINGDALE, NY — The Long Island Pride Parade & Festival is set to come to Farmingdale Village on Sunday afternoon. The parade is slated to run from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. From road closures to the farmers market and more, there is plenty residents should know ahead of the event. The 2022 Long Island Pride Parade will be hosted by the LGBT Network. The parade will feature a vendor fair and festival on Main Street and the Village Green. The event is free to attend. Farmers Market The weekly Farmingdale Farmers Market On the Village Green, hosted by Schneider's Farm, will relocate for the day and be set up on the apron in front of the Farmingdale Fire Department on Main Street, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting. Concert/Festival A concert stage will be set up at Conklin Street and Main Street, and a vendor fair/festival is planned for the Village Green, at 361 Main St. A map of the Long Island Pride event can be viewed here. Road Closures The set-up for the Pride Parade and related events is slated to start at 10 a.m. with the parade kicking off at 12:30 p.m. from Northside School. The parade will be followed by a festival on Main Street until 6:30 p.m. The village anticipates Main Street will fully reopen at 8 p.m. Bethpage Road from Round Swamp Road to Main Street and Powell Place will be closed from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for marshaling the parade. Streets next to Bethpage road will not have access to Bethpage Road until the parade steps off. Main Street from Northside School to South Front Street will be closed from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the Pride Parade: Streets next to Main Street between Northside School and South Front Street will not have access to Main Street until the parade passes. Main Street from South Front Street to Prospect Street is set to be closed from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. for the Pride Parade/Festival. NY 24 (Conklin Street) will be closed at 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. from Fulton Street to Elizabeth Street. A reviewing stand/stage will be set up on Conklin and will be the reviewing stand during the parade: Following the parade, it will be used as a stage where entertainment will be provided until 6:30 p.m. Parking All village downtown parking lots will be open and accessible. Residents are asked to follow Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) instructions for detours. Provisions have been made with the NCPD to access all parking lots and to attend church services. The village encourages using the LIRR parking lots. Parking lots at the Farmingdale LIRR station are open, with free parking and no parking restrictions on Sunday. The LIRR parking lot is within walking distance to downtown/Main Street. Safety Police, Fire Department, Emergency personnel and local officials are coordinating efforts for a safe event.
