Description

This summer, United Way of San Diego County (UWSD) encourages local individuals, families, businesses, companies, and more to participate in its annual "Day of Action" on Friday, June 10. UWSD is partnering with several other nonprofit organizations throughout San Diego to support a diverse set of cause areas such as homelessness, food insecurity, and environmental consciousness. Community partners this year include the following nonprofits: Bayside Community Center Dreams for Change Jewish Family Service of San Diego People Assisting The Homeless (PATH) San Diego Food Bank Surfrider Foundation "As we transition back to in-person events and gatherings, our team is excited to invite community members from all around San Diego to come together in support of those most in need," says Nancy L. Sasaki, president and CEO, United Way of San Diego County. "From food sorting to gardening to ocean clean ups, there are volunteer opportunities for everyone to take action." For over 100 years, UWSD continues to align corporate partners with nonprofit organizations that are focused on causes in the community about which companies and their employees care, and leverages resources (time, talent, and money) to transform the lives of children, young adults, and families. UWSD is committed to offering the community diverse ways of giving back beyond writing a check to include hands-on volunteer projects like its annual "June Day of Action". "The best part of our annual 'Day of Action' event is that anyone anywhere in San Diego can give back to these communities in need. Although it's only one day, our hope is that our other nonprofit partners sign up new volunteers for not only June 10, but year-round. Nonprofits thrive on volunteer support and we challenge the community to give their time and talent to local families in need of nutrition support, students in need of encouragement, and many other people who need a hand up," says Sasaki. Can't donate your time and talent? Consider making a donation directly to UWSD to support the organization's efforts to bring together our community for our neighbors most in need of a helping hand.
