TEANECK, NJ — A 26-year-old Teaneck man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault after an altercation involving a gun and bat in the area of Washington Avenue on May 25, according to a June 8 news release from the Hackensack Police Department. He is now being held at the Bergen County Jail on a warrant, pending an initial appearance in court. In the release, Hackensack police said that multiple victims reported that the man, Tshaughn Fields, became embroiled in a dispute over a dog which escalated when he displayed a handgun and threatened them, and damaged the mirrors of their vehicle with a bat. Police said they also received reports that Fields pointed the gun at one of the victims and pursued them in a car as they drove away, "fearing for their life." Detectives identified Fields as the suspect through surveillance footage, the release said. Fields was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, criminal mischief and terroristic threats.
