UWCHLAN TWP—State police said this morning that a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in which five people were injured yesterday was caused by a tractor-trailer failing to stop when another tractor trailer was stopped to avoid hitting debris in the road.
Cpl. Matthew D. Johnson said four tractor-trailers and eight other vehicles were involved in the crash.
According to police:
One vehicle was pinned underneath the tractor trailer. Five individuals were taken to Paoli Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash.
The identities and the condition of the victims have not yet been released.
The turnpike has reopened.
The investigation is continuing.
