PLAINFIELD, IL — If you enjoy biking and want to hang out with Plainfield Mayor John Argoudelis, locals have the option to bike with him from Plainfield to Shorewood Sunday afternoon. Participants will meet at Sovereign, on Lockport Street in Plainfield, at least 15 minutes before noon, when they will take off on a 16-mile bike ride that will end at Mauve Nosh & Libations, 1146 W. Jefferson St., in Shorewood. The event is focused on easy riding, not racing. Helmuts are mandatory, according to a description. Although sign ups can no longer be made online since t-shirts were picked up two weeks ago, organizers told Patch that anyone interested in riding can show up at the meeting spot and participate. To learn more about Plainfield's mayor, an online post about the riding event included a short introduction: "John Argoudelis has Plainfield in his heart and has the knowledge, experience and vision to bring Plainfield into the 21st century. His summer activities include canoeing and cycling. He enjoys maintaining his farm, raising chickens, bees and a native prairie. He is an avid college football fan and loves his Fighting Illini."
