LEMONT, IL — The Joliet Slammers have signed Lemont local and 2015 MLB first-round draft pick Tyler Jay, the organization said Thursday. The Joliet Slammers also signed Naperville native Logan Schmitt and right-hand pitcher Turner Larkins, from Arlington, Texas. "The goal of this league is to build these young men into better players and get them into the major league affiliates," John Wilson, Executive Vice president of Baseball Operations, said ina release. "There's a lot of movement for fans to follow, but we couldn't be more excited to bring more talent onto the mound and celebrate the players that have passed through our dugout to excel in their careers." Jay, a left-hand pitcher, was the first-round draft pick for the Minnesota Twins in the 2015 MLB draft, and also played at the University of Illinois, according to a release from the team.
