DANVILLE, CA — In a strange time of constant shortages, the Town of Danville has another problem - a lack of lifeguards. "Like other towns and cities across the Bay Area, the Town is dealing with a national lifeguard shortage. The shortage is primarily due to the industry not being able to certify lifeguards for one year in 2020," the town said in a press release. The town will still offer its summer aquatic programs but space may have to be limited and programs might have to be adjusted, the release said. "Water safety is our top priority, and we want to make sure that Danville families have the best experience in our pools and programs this summer," Recreation, Arts and Community Services Director Henry Perezalonso said. More information about the programs is supposed to sent out before each session to give people as much notice as possible, including any cancellations. "We are still hiring, training, and hoping we have the lifeguard and swim instructor numbers to provide as much programming as we can in the safest manner possible," Perezalonso said. "We greatly appreciate everyone's understanding and patience." Those interested in lifeguard positions can apply here.
