DARIEN, IL — Darien is ready to rock this summer.
The city is sponsoring "Darien Rocks The Greens," a new concert series free for the public at the Carriage Greens Country Club
Mayor Joseph Marchese said Darien has been looking to host more outdoor activities and specifically has always planned to hold a concert series at Carriage Greens. The city was unable to sooner, however, because of the pandemic.
"I'm excited we finally have this opportunity," Marchese said in a phone call with Patch.
Each concert will feature a local cover band, with food and drinks provided by local restaurants. Depending on turnout from the first concert, the city may look for more vendors to cater the later concerts.
The concerts will be held on the last Thursday of each month through August. Each concert is scheduled to run from 6-9 p.m.

"(It's an) opportunity to get out of the house," Marchese said.
The city is also asking attendees to bring canned good donations for the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Food Pantry.
